About Universal Plastics:

Universal Plastics specializes in plastic injection molding, including gas assist and structural foam, for customers mostly in the medical, laboratory and diagnostic markets. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for effectively troubleshooting, diagnosing, modifying, repairing, and rebuilding a variety of complex plant machinery, molding machines and related support equipment within all departments.

Responsibilities of an Assembler:

• Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs all aspects of injection molding machines from AC/DC, low voltage circuitry to 480v, hydraulics, motors, pumps, PLC’s, pneumatics, and various control systems.
• Uses complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics to aid in the repair of machinery.
• Performs installation of new equipment or relocation of equipment, as well as infrastructure and plant support systems as needed.
• Assembles, disassembles, and converts/upgrades production lines or support equipment as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance on injection molding machines and related support equipment.
• Completes all maintenance work order repairs as assigned.
• Maintains inspections of fire protection system, production and facilities equipment.
• Performs a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services, including basic plumbing, electrical heating and A/C repairs.
• Observes all safety regulations and practices.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by manager.
• Be willing and able to assist in other departments, as needed.
• Stands, walks and uses hands for 8 to 10 hours per day; there is no sitting in this position.
• Supports production by providing overtime and after-hour work as needed.

Candidate Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in plastic injection molding and working knowledge of hydraulics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), pneumatics, mechanics and basic electrical repair.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical circuits.
• Ability to read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, simple instructions, written procedures, and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Works efficiently to keep production demands and customer on-time deliveries on track.
• Must be effective and efficient while performing all tasks to ensure production needs are met.
• Possess a flexible mindset as jobs and tasks change quickly.
• High School Diploma with basic math and excellent communication skills.
