Tiffin University (TU) was founded in 1888 and offers accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration, criminal justice, social sciences, creative and media arts, humanities, education, sciences, technology, and health. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Neighborhood Director is a live-in professional staff member responsible for comprehensively overseeing a vibrant residential neighborhood on campus. Their primary responsibilities encompass managing several residence halls and/or homes, supervising student staff, organizing engaging programming, effectively handling behavioral issues and conflicts, and providing immediate crisis response. Assisting the Director of Residence Life with the ongoing housing operations, this vital role is essential in nurturing a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic student living environment where residents feel valued and engaged. The Neighborhood Director reports directly to the Director of Residence Life and embodies the spirit of community living as a key live-in professional on campus.
Requirements:MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative: Ensure accurate reporting and communication to support a well-functioning residential community by supervising Resident Assistants and acting as a bridge between residents and professional staff.
Crisis Intervention: Respond to crises with preparedness and compassion, offering guidance and support to staff and students at all times. Utilize protocols, make necessary referrals, and ensure timely reporting to uphold student safety and well-being.
Behavior and Conflict Management: Address student conduct and conflicts with fairness and empathy, guiding students through resolutions and sanctions. Facilitate mediations and discussions to foster understanding and harmony within the residential community.
Housing Operations: Facilitate seamless transitions and uphold the integrity of residential spaces, ensuring a welcoming and well-maintained environment. Through regular oversight and accountability, nurture a community where every detail matters.
Programming: Create a vibrant community through intentional programming that fosters belonging and connection. Guide and support student-led initiatives, ensuring resources are thoughtfully allocated to enrich the campus experience.
Leadership: Lead with purpose and compassion, nurturing student and staff growth and development. Embrace collaboration and representation, forging meaningful relationships and fostering a supportive campus culture.
